I have suffered with IBS for most of my life. The sessions are part guided meditation, and hypnosis, which I now use as a maintenance program to relieve ongoing discomfort in my intestinal tract. I also use them at night when I need to calm my nerves/stomach and get to sleep. I don’t see myself not using this program. I gave it four stars only because the sessions can often repeat, and I do wish there were more variety. Regardless, thank you to the Australian scientists who created this program. I am very grateful!

I love the simple layout of the app and the option for reminders— this programs boasts its effect on IBs symptoms with daily readings (~5 min) and daily guided hyponotherapy (~15 min). EVERYTHING IS GREAT EXCEPT— the one week trial period doesn’t come close to showing everyone what the results could be before spending a whopping $150 on a yearly subscription (which is why I rate it 4 instead of 5 stars).

I’ve only been using the program for just under a full week however my gut and IBS issues appear to be less severe. Also, my gut was irritating me a bit this morning (probably stress related) so I sit down for a hypnotherapy session to see if it would improve. Immediately following the session, I felt incredibly calm and my gut honestly felt better and much more manageable. Looking forward to permanent improvements over the coming weeks and months.

This is a wonderful idea. I’m enjoying the daily hypnosis. I have IBD-D. I’d love to hear this without reference to IBS but simply digestive or gut health. Also it’d be helpful to have options of 20 or 30 minute sessions. This is just a bit quick…

Seems to be helping. However have noticed often that despite listening to the entire session and doing the reading and everything the app often does not mark a day as complete. I carefully wait for the session to finish but it does this frequently and the only thing I can do to mark the day as complete is to scrub through the hypno session until a few seconds before the end and “finish” it again. Only at this time does the app mark the day with a tick. A small annoyance but it bugs me to do it each time.

I’m unable to continue after the free trial as it is just slightly out of budget for me. Maybe in a couple of months I can restart but hopefully it has a long lasting effect.

The hypnosis is really good. I am only on day two but so far so good. The program is expensive but I will give it a go as I do believe it might work to calm my ibs. I miss one thing at the end of the sessions in the hypnosis and that is the request to link to a positive feeling which other hypnotherapists do that really lifts the spirit.m for the day ahead. Personally I also prefer the option of a bit of music to send me deeper but I am actually getting deep enough. Just a personal preference. Will report back later as the program progresses.

I had been trying so many approaches to managing my IBS symptoms with nutritionist, GP, specialists and naturopath professionals with minimal improvement. I was on a super restrictive low FODMAP diet and was going a bit mad and was so frustrated whenever I ate i had severe GI reactions! I saw an ad on Instagram for Nerva and gave it a go! I was lucky that in two weeks my symptoms had improved noticeably and by the end of the 6 weeks of daily hypnotherapy sessions, I tried eating my trigger foods and found some of them had no negative effects at all! Some still cause me to have a reaction but nothing close to what it was before. By far Nerva has been the most effective treatment for my IBS-D that I’ve had! Only downside is the price has increased from when I did my 6 weeks in early jan 2021 and then maintenance, initially I paid $200 for a years subscription, which is SO steep anyway for an app, but now (jan 2023) I see it has increased to $99 per 3 months, which is about $400 a year now, which is nuts. It’s still cheaper than all the appointments I was going to prior to the program, but I haven’t resubscribed again due to the price hike. The cost of living is so much worse now post Covid and I can’t afford any of it at all now sadly. But if you can afford it, I highly recommend!
I did the app every day after lunch for 6 weeks. It was a very relaxing routine, but was not really helpful for my IBS. I know it doesn’t work for everyone, and I suppose I was one of those.

The app is very user friendly and beautifully designed with daily readings, hypnotherapy tracks (like meditation) and breathing exercises. Unfortunately for me my physical symptoms haven’t changed much over the 6 weeks but I do think it has helped with overall stress/anxiety reduction anyway, which is always a positive. I’m going to carry on with it, as I do believe in the gut-brain connection, and try cutting out some high fodmap foods in combination.

The weeks of daily hypnosis sessions have helped me tremendously. I still experience the occasional extreme diarrhea flareup, but have (through hypnosis & deep breathing exercises) learned to control it and minimize it. This is a major difference from my GI doctor, who the last time I saw him & told him of the sudden, extreme diarrhea flareups his response was ‘try taking imodium’. A response I found totally unacceptable & unprofessional!

I was desperate enough to try anything when I started this program, and I’m so happy to report that after completing the 6 weeks, I have experienced a marked improvement in my overall gut health/comfort. I’m also able to enjoy more flexibility in my diet, without suffering the uncomfortable “repercussions” I’ve become accustomed to over the years (in spite of religiously following every “gut based” eating program known to humanity). The reason I’m only giving it 4 stars, is because I do think some work could be done to improve the audio sessions. My profession has a large amount of overlap in hypnotherapy, meditation, CBT and other modalities touched on in this program, so perhaps my expectations are higher than most. However, I think some small tweaks to the language and delivery of the “hypnotherapy” (more reminiscent of simple guided meditation/visualization) could push this program over the top and make it even more impactful. That said, I experienced such benefit from dedicated, daily adherence to the readings, audio and breathing exercises, that I wouldn’t hesitate recommending this app/program to anyone struggling with IBS (or “IBS adjacent”) GI issues. I believe anyone suffering from any kind of stomach/GI discomfort could experience benefit from this program.
There is so much that I appreciate about this programme. It is very comprehensive, dealing with all aspects of IBS. The readings give lots of useful and often reassuring information. The hypnotherapy sessions were always very calming to listen to. I…
There is so much that I appreciate about this programme. It is very comprehensive, dealing with all aspects of IBS. The readings give lots of useful and often reassuring information. The hypnotherapy sessions were always very calming to listen to. I personally did not feel that I was fully hypnotised and because I suffer from chronic insomnia, there was a tendency to fall asleep regardless of the time of day I chose to listen. Very irritating to feel I was missing out! Some of the breathing/ relaxing exercises appealed to me more than others, as one would expect. I did find them a little repetitive. Above all, I must mention the brilliant customer support I received from Nerva staff. I cannot thank them enough. All in all, a very good experience. You know that Simone Peters and the other staff are really committed to helping you feel better.

I’m loving the combination of reading & hypnotherapy sessions, makes me feel very relaxed & some really helpful tips…Although I haven’t physically felt any improvement yet, I am hopeful that this will follow.

It is much easier and quicker than I thought it would be to get started. I like the daily reading and then the hypnosis. My only thing is I would like the option of a deep male voice as I feel it would be more calming - no offence to the lady!

Early days for me but seeing improvement already. I had however experienced this treatment a few years ago with face to face sessions. They helped me a lot but my symptoms have gradually returned. This is more convenient & removes the obstacle of having to attend appointments which can be difficult when the very reason you are attending is making it impossible to attend!

I understand that the purpose of the hypnotherapy portion is to set the stage for one to accept suggestions to calm the autonomic nervous system. This helps to heal the gut. I find that, in addition, it can help with other anxiety-producing occurrences I face daily; “catastrophes". I have used a form of hypnotherapy for years as a sleep aid. These sessions help me sleep better. I am reading medical articles about hypnotherapy for the gut and also in sports.

I am one week in on Nerva app. I do think a lot of my issues stem from anxiety and stress- and sometimes just the stress of IBS or anxiety of a flare. I think this app is/can be helpful. My only complaint so far is wishing the sessions could be more tailored to C or D dominate, as I feel they are different.
It’s a good app but given the sessions don’t change I think the $100 should just give lifelong access. $100 every three months is too expensive so I stopped using it.
