It’s pretty off-putting for a health app to have such a rigid money-grabbing pricing structure. While the hypnotherapy recordings are pleasant to listen to during my free trial, I cannot justify paying $200 to continue this. Some of the recordings from Week one were already a bit repetitive and I can see that the content ends up being reused which also doesn’t justify the price or the 12 month subscription. I would suggest offering monthly subscriptions to create greater flexibility for your users.

Hypnotherapy works well but the app is pretty much a joke. Constant crashing, freezing stuttering when playing the one thing we’re all here for, the hypnotherapy recordings. Resets your daily streak progress regularly when updates roll out. App frequently won’t show up on the Lock Screen so you have to open your phone to pause or adjust the sessions. Reminders for doing Nerva will still pop up even if you’ve already completed your daily session. All in all this has improved my symptoms of IBS but now I’m kind of reliant on it. If I skip a day things are worse than they were before I started the program so I’m forced to pay $75/ 3 months for a program that hasn’t changed or added new recordings in 3+ years. Honestly wish there was a way to just purchase these hypnotherapy sessions and ditch the app altogether but business be like that.

It’s a gimmick
I personally don’t recommend - you start with a trial, think it’s weekly payment, get stitched up for the year and the way they introduce gut related symptoms’ to hypnotherapy (which is at best meditation) is comical to the point of distraction

Really worth it for the initial course but you’re paying the same amount for much less after that. They need to heavily discount long term subscribers for it to be worth it.

This treatment is effective but it is boring and repetitive. What else can I say? I would love to recommend it but I can’t. Sorry. More thought should go into the hypnosis sessions to add variety and interest. Also, I didn’t realise I was paying in $US and not AUD. $145US is steep as on the maintenance program I can choose the sessions but the “senses” one drives me crazy so that is out and that leaves the tensing muscle ones. There is so much out there to use!! Repetitive and boring but my digestion has improved. It’s a shame you had bad advise at the set up.

I was really excited about the potential of this app to provide some legitimate benefit to me but found much of the interaction really patronising and feeling like I’m constantly getting the hard sell. I may be an outlier but as much as wanted to buy into the hypnotherapy sessions I found the delivery of the narrator in terms of tone, speed and variable use of your / the just tended to wind me up and had the opposite effect to which it was intended. It would be great if there was more content that supported more personal meditation rather than directed hypnotherapy as would be something I would happily pay for

I asked a simple question and received an answer totally unrelated to my question. I don’t feel the support team read the questions carefully or are particularly knowledgeable .. I wondered at first if I was being answered by a bot, the response was so irrelevant. Support also keep repeating how Nerva is not a perfect system … the question wasn’t even related to anything that would call for that response. The responses from support are much more negative compared to the upbeat advertising which says it works for 80% people. The readings say it is important to keep a positive hopeful attitude and support keep undermining this with this unasked for negative comment which I’ve received twice now, once before I signed up.

Helps some but costly subscription
If you want to do the trial do the least costly option because it all disappears after 7 days unless you sign up for an entire year. Not that great in my opinion and there are other options out there

Might be helping, but annoying
I hate the tense and release exercises. And having them everyday is making me want to quit. I couldn’t even finish today's session :( If it was broken up with other exercises in between it’d be more bearable.

6 week program became disappointing
I was enjoying and benefitting from the first 5 weeks but then the meditations became dull, disconnected and I stopped listening once the series of visualization was presented on the third day-again.

The Nerva people have put a lot of effort into this, and I’m willing to be open to it working. I might even try it again one day. But I think it’s helpful to emphasise that it definitely doesn’t work for everyone. IBS is such an annoying and tiring chronic condition. I would have loved for this to have worked. But it didn’t–it didn’t change anything.

I signed up for this on the Rec from my doc after bad stomach post food poisoning. I didn’t have any of the symptoms in their initial survey- no bloating wind belly pain anxiety depression worry constipation or diarrhea. I guess I should be glad it’s a single symptom. I had paid so decided to try it anyway. The visualization exercises were nice enough the lady’s voice calming and several times I fell right to sleep. Others listened all the way through. After six weeks my body hasn’t changed and I answered the survey questions honestly again. No change. And yet they said congratulations you have improved 86%. If that’s the kind of “science” this is based on I’d call it fraud. Becuz NO APP, nothing whatsoever has changed. However if u have these symptoms it could in fact work. And the exercises might help u sleep at night. So there’s that.

My doc recommended to try this. Although I enjoyed the relaxation sessions they didn’t apply to me. From day 1 I didn’t have bloating gas nausea pain constipation or diarrhea. Nor did I have anxiety hopelessness or worry. If you have these things it might be helpful. The lady’s voice is very calming and visualizations are nice. Hilariously even though I rated none of those symptoms from day one for the full six weeks they said I improved by 86%. If this is what they consider science then it’s not much better than snake oil. But still worth a shot.

I liked this for the first week. After that, every session is repeated throughout each week, week after week. My brain knew what to expect and therefore I couldn’t focus or relax, and after the first 8 sessions I could’ve repeated the words by heart so they lost any impact. The techniques, as well as the information in the readings, can be found on the internet or achieved in person with a CBT therapist. I could not “check off” the “Optional” breathing exercises, even though I completed them, so even though I finished the program, it appeared as if I did not and therefor could not access the flair up toolkit. I paid $200 for a very annoying sounding British woman to tell me the same 6 techniques over and again. I’ve felt more relaxed using other guided meditation apps — and in fact they are more relaxing because they are not making me thing about to stomach, digestion or bathroom habits! I’m not sure how everyone else is getting such amazing results from this.

I’m not happy that when I go to use it after 12pm, the meditation has gone and I have no access to it. I paid the full $16 dollars for my week trial but I do not have access to 7 meditations which is what I paid for.

This apps content has provided much needed relief for me and my gut. The unfortunate part is that the last 3 updates to the app have made the app almost unusable. Constantly crashes, doesn’t respond to any screen input and frequently starts playing the audio tracks with nothing on the screen to control the track. Please, please, please, stop ruining this app. For $70/3 months this app should be the best of the best, what gives? If it keeps breaking I will have no choice but to discontinue my subscription and move on to another option.
