Key takeaways:
- After a poor in-person hypnotherapy experience raised her anxiety, Janalyssa was sceptical, but the Nerva app proved extremely helpful for her gut issues, so she tried Relio.
- Four years of chronic pain followed encephalitis and a severe bowel infection, leaving her with spondyloarthritis, migraines, seizures, anxiety, and more bad days than good.
- Education about the brain-gut and brain-back connections helped her understand her pain responses and self-regulate, desensitising emotional and physical responses little by little.
- Doing hypnosis sessions at her own leisure in her own safe space significantly reduced her anxiety attacks and helped her take back control.
Turning scepticism into belief
I had recently had a hypnotherapy session with a psychologist that did not go well at all, it was impersonal and raised my anxiety tenfold instead of the opposite so I was sceptical to say the least when I came across the hypnosis apps with Mindset health.
It took a few times of seeing the advertisements on Instagram before I decided to ask some questions. I initially started with the IBS Nerva app and found it extremely helpful with my gut issues so when the Relio back pain app was launched I was more than happy to give it a go.
Janalyssa’s journey with chronic pain
I have suffered with chronic pain for just over 4 years now following an autoimmune disorder response after initially contracting Encephalitis (a brain virus). This spiralled my immune system and I then contracted a severe bowel bug called Clostridium Difficile. It literally destroyed my good bacteria from my gut and required 8 months of antibiotics to settle it into a dormant stage.
