Ok sessions, feeling better about food again :)
Liking it so far, but they should consider having Michael sealy writing the intros for the hypnosis sessions.

Like many others I was surprised to find that this is 6 recordings repeated (7 repeats over 6 weeks). However the trial period times out just at the moment you realise this so not a good start on feeling a bit conned but putting that aside is it worth it? Yes it probably is. But that’s only because, if like many other reviewers, lying awake at night with unbearable pain you’d give anything for a bit of relief. Which was me several months ago after years of suffering flare ups. I managed to apply myself with the programme fully for two or three weeks but soon after found it impossible to concentrate I was so bored and unmotivated. I often also fell asleep. I stopped at week four finding that twenty minutes a day felt like an eternity. I have noticed an improvement in my flare ups - they do seem to be less severe. However... I would strongly suggest that some of the benefit is simply from stopping, lying down and doing a simple breathing exercise. I’m not 100% convinced that the hypnotherapy suggestions are having the effect. But either way, if you’re reading this, £50 is probably worth it because no doubt you’ve tried everything else. But having said that the subscription model is nonsensical and to be honest so is the app which adds nothing at all. It includes little bits of reading etc but it’s all garbage, with or two minor exceptions. It would make much more sense to release as an audio book on audible for £50 or £60 rather than have a subscription model.
Might as well just meditate every day.
Four days and beginning to look forward to the coming day’s session.

I am really sad to write this review because it looks like this app has helped a lot of people and I do not want to dissuade people for trying it for themselves, but I feel like I need to share my experience. Despite my experience I do think it is pretty low risk to give it a try and see if it works for you. I just want to share my experience so people do not think they are crazy if what happened to me happens to you! I used this app for a little over a week. During that time, my symptoms got substantially worse and I ended up experiencing symptoms I didn’t even have before. The hypnosis talks a lot about all kinds of symptom that people have with IBS, some of which I do not. After a couple of days those symptoms started to develop. I actually didn’t even know what they were in some cases because I didn’t ever have them before (for example, reflux). In addition, the hypnosis encourages GI functions that are the exact opposite of what my issue is (IBS-D) and that worsened as well. I eat a low FODMAP, gluten-free, dairy-free diet and maintained my diet the whole time. I know I did not eat something by mistake because that would have caused 2-3 days worth of symptoms (not a week and a half) and would not have included the symptoms I wasn’t experiencing. I stopped the app and within 2-3 days my system returned to “normal”. I am convinced that it was the app and not anything else in life. I am giving this 2 stars instead of 1 because I can see where it is really effective for people where it works. I was suuuuuper relaxed during the hypnoses and at one point when it was over I realized I was drooling!! Maybe it works better for people with IBS-C and symptoms like reflux, wind, pain, etc. which it talks a lot about. Honestly I think it is worth the $80 to just give it a try and see if it works for you given how many people have responded well. For me personally my worsened symptoms resolved within 2-3 days of trying it and I think it was worth the $80 just to give it a try. People who are complaining about the $80 probably aren’t as desperate for help and at their wits ends like some of us are. I would almost empty my bank account for a cure at this point. I would probably give hypnosis a try again if I could have someone who could customize it for my specific symptoms and issues.
Each session in the first week begins with a guided meditation. It did not relax me as intended, making the rest of the session seemingly useless.
I was only provided one subscription option (annual) and not provided with any other options (weekly, monthly, etc). Did not use the app for more than 2 or 3 months total in total, but paid full price for a year smh; not worth it.

I had Nerva on and off for a couple years. I found that some of the sessions were helpful, but there isn’t a lot of content for what you pay for. It is so sad that people dealing with pain and discomfort do not have better access to care. It’s already extremely depressing living with chronic pain and illness, then worrying about finances on top of that adds a whole other layer of grief.
The app and the content are good, but the sessions are repetitive which for me makes them become annoying and eventually impossibly to listen to. The same audios are recycled so by week three I couldn’t stand it any more.
I am a 16 year old that has chronic pains and unbelievable IBS, that needs help which I can no longer do as everyone costs so MUCH. Why does this cost money when it can cost me my life?

I really wanted to like this app especially for the price and given it came highly recommended however found the guided sessions very repetitive and somewhat illogical to follow, which made it very challenging to continue to do them 5 days a week for 6 weeks. I can meditate and don’t find that frustrating or repetitive but the guided visualisations and prompts in these sessions were a struggle to get through.

Great app for hypnotherapy with good info. I’ve previously practiced hypnotherapy together with CBT from which I had results. This app is very expensive. Hypnotherapy only. Not combined with CBT, nor other mindfulness techniques. It’s very expensive for what you get. Great app otherwise. Maybe shop around and compare before you commit to this one

Trial was way too short you barely have a chance to see if it works for you. I paid for the annual subscription and then realised it wasn’t for me. I would recommend some alternative voices to guide you through the therapy as the app developer chooses an overly “woo” lady that lays the whole journey on so thick, it doesn’t feel genuine or engaging. It just made me want to close the app and delete it. Not worth the money (for me personally).

I thought I’d really like this app when I did a couple of days listening to it during the trial so let it go onto the really expensive paid version. Well then I just realised it’s virtually the same content over and over. My biggest big bear is that the app keeps on progressing days regardless of whether you listened to a session or not. So for example I might have listened to 3 sessions in 7 days and then rolls me onto week 2! I’m on week 6 now having listened to maybe 5/6 sessions. Absolutely not worth the money for the sparse content, I don’t want to clench all my muscles and release them each time I listen to this thing!
Have not noticed any difference whatsoever. Got bored with the repetitive sessions. Woman’s voice was calming I will admit.
While this hasn’t really made my IBS better, the hypnotherapy has helped me develop coping mechanisms for delaying flareups in public (delaying, however—not eliminating). Thus, I can’t say this was worth over $100 for six weeks based on my results,…

It’s pretty off-putting for a health app to have such a rigid money-grabbing pricing structure. While the hypnotherapy recordings are pleasant to listen to during my free trial, I cannot justify paying $200 to continue this. Some of the recordings from Week one were already a bit repetitive and I can see that the content ends up being reused which also doesn’t justify the price or the 12 month subscription. I would suggest offering monthly subscriptions to create greater flexibility for your users.

Hypnotherapy works well but the app is pretty much a joke. Constant crashing, freezing stuttering when playing the one thing we’re all here for, the hypnotherapy recordings. Resets your daily streak progress regularly when updates roll out. App frequently won’t show up on the Lock Screen so you have to open your phone to pause or adjust the sessions. Reminders for doing Nerva will still pop up even if you’ve already completed your daily session. All in all this has improved my symptoms of IBS but now I’m kind of reliant on it. If I skip a day things are worse than they were before I started the program so I’m forced to pay $75/ 3 months for a program that hasn’t changed or added new recordings in 3+ years. Honestly wish there was a way to just purchase these hypnotherapy sessions and ditch the app altogether but business be like that.
Helpful in the outset, but for long term use it’s very expensive, seems to have less impact and they don’t provide any new content to even get close to justifying the cost once you’ve completed the course and are in a maintenance phase. Really worth…
Helpful in the outset, but for long term use it’s very expensive, seems to have less impact and they don’t provide any new content to even get close to justifying the cost once you’ve completed the course and are in a maintenance phase. Really worth it for the initial course but you’re paying the same amount for much less after that. They need to heavily discount long term subscribers for it to be worth it.

This treatment is effective but it is boring and repetitive. What else can I say? I would love to recommend it but I can’t. Sorry. More thought should go into the hypnosis sessions to add variety and interest. Also, I didn’t realise I was paying in $US and not AUD. $145US is steep as on the maintenance program I can choose the sessions but the “senses” one drives me crazy so that is out and that leaves the tensing muscle ones. There is so much out there to use!! Repetitive and boring but my digestion has improved. It’s a shame you had bad advise at the set up.

I was really excited about the potential of this app to provide some legitimate benefit to me but found much of the interaction really patronising and feeling like I’m constantly getting the hard sell. I may be an outlier but as much as wanted to buy into the hypnotherapy sessions I found the delivery of the narrator in terms of tone, speed and variable use of your / the just tended to wind me up and had the opposite effect to which it was intended. It would be great if there was more content that supported more personal meditation rather than directed hypnotherapy as would be something I would happily pay for
If you want to do the trial do the least costly option because it all disappears after 7 days unless you sign up for an entire year. Not that great in my opinion and there are other options out there
I hate the tense and release exercises. And having them everyday is making me want to quit. I couldn’t even finish today's session :( If it was broken up with other exercises in between it’d be more bearable.
I am not sure that this process is working for me. I find the sessions to be very repetitive and my mind wanders a lot as we go over the same repetitive speech.

I used Nerva for three months. Not perfectly, I sometimes missed a session, but generally speaking I was consistent. I didn’t have any positive results. In fact, in the time of using Nerva my symptoms became vaguely worse. The Nerva people have put a lot of effort into this, and I’m willing to be open to it working. I might even try it again one day. But I think it’s helpful to emphasise that it definitely doesn’t work for everyone. IBS is such an annoying and tiring chronic condition. I would have loved for this to have worked. But it didn’t–it didn’t change anything.
