I want this concept to work so so badly and I truthfully do think it helped! I’ve been on quite the IBS journey and I don’t believe just cutting out foods is the only answer. I think it makes a ton of sense that we could trick the brain into adjusting since the brain to gut connection is so strong. My only problem with the app is that it’s literally listening to the same 5-10 recordings over and over, every day. As someone who practices guided meditation, I just would really appreciate if there were a few different options. I’ve tried hypnotherapy in different settings and am aware that I don’t get fully hypnotized so maybe I’m over aware of this and it could possibly not bother others but I just would love to get back into it if y’all could creat a little more variety in the hypnosis recordings. Like I said, still appreciate the app and what they’re trying to convey! Great concept and I’m glad people are combining science and traditional medicine to get new outcomes.

Please pass this on to the team who produce this app and ask if the hypnotherapy sessions could be either or with both versions being provided.

THE BAD:
The app is a glorified audio player without the benefits of one such as varispeed. It plays the same programs over and over, and worse, you can’t even choose from all of them. The initial “breathing/sense/release” sections are dictated by the whims of the app.
Charging a hefty subscription for a handful of different meditation recordings that never change, some of which you can’t even always access, is taking the proverbial.

I am getting bogged down with the fact that that the same material , word for word is being used for every session. It is like you started off with a program and ran out of ideas just as the program got off the ground. I am having a hard time keeping my interest up and resent having paid into a program that just repeats itself. I have hung on this long assuming that I will continue to learn more but am really thinking it is time to bow out and ask for a refund . This program is way over priced.

First, I’d like to say the education piece was spot on. I learned a lot, even though I thought I was pretty up on the topic. I initially really enjoyed the app and thought it was helping some. After a while I no longer felt able to stay focused at all due to the repetitiveness from one session to another. Plus, more than 3 weeks into it, I was unable to participate for over a week. I tried to start back up where I left off but the app did not have the capability to do that. It was then much harder to stay on track and the app started to not remember the sessions I had completed. I eventually did 6 weeks with only missing the week and a half in the middle. I felt it was worth a try, but unfortunately the program didn’t work for me and I felt the app itself was not what it should be considering the cost.

I like the app and the idea of gut-related hypnotherapy. I just wish the same verbal prompts weren’t repeated at the same points in the session every day. It’s distracting in that I’m repeating what she’s saying along with her. I have the “text” memorized. Only the visualization portion changes each day so far (I have done 7 days of it). I’m not sure whether to subscribe for the full year or not, but I am seeing some benefits. Repetitive prompts and wording are why I stopped using the headspace meditation app. He said the same thing every day, and I wasn’t focusing - I was repeating the words along with him. Only a small portion of his program changed. I went to using Calm for meditation because she changes it every day. She doesn’t say the same words over and over again. Nerva subscription is expensive. I’m hoping she doesn’t say the same thing every day for six weeks.
Updated in week 3. Maybe this app isn’t for me. She’s now repeating the visualizations too. I’m not an outdoorsy type person. Imagining I’m clearing my way through overgrown brush or bathing in a hot spring of mineral waters gives me anxiety. It does NOT relax me at all. I’m finding myself skipping parts of the repeated sessions or verbally disagreeing out loud with the “narrator”. I think I wasted my money. Is it too much to ask for fresh material every day?

I tried for the free trial period, but all it seems to consist of is a daily 15 minute audio of guided relaxation, the likes of which you can easily find for free on YouTube. Not sure what the unique selling point is here

I’m on day 5. My first 4 sessions gave me an opportunity to look within myself and address my anxiety issues. I’m stoked to listen to my recording this evening and reflect on what tonight’s lesson teaches me. My gut struggles have been lessened significantly. Not that I don’t have to watch what I eat but I can now eat without fear. That’s after 4 sessions. Mentally I feel stronger, I have excellent natural supports at home as well, which has also been a great help. At this point I highly recommend that anyone who has gut issues to give the program a try. I know there are no guarantees, but when I saw that Monash also supports this program it gave me the confidence to give it a try. I had read some information regarding the gut brain connection; once I looked more into this I was able to appreciate the science behind this program as well. I feel to be successful you have to be honest with yourself and seriously look within and address your emotional shortcomings. Best wishes to all of you who have similar struggles.

It feels strange to begin with and it can be hard to immerse yourself in the process. I have to really engage my imagination and senses to convince myself but the more I achieve that the easier it has gotten and the better it works. All my symptoms have definitely improved. I don’t suffer from the same level of pain I did before. The maintenance program works well for me and the initial cost and effort to follow the program seems to have been a great investment in my health. How ever upon writing this review I lost access to the maintenance program that only gives you access to the pre recorded sessions of hypnotherapy to use at your convenience. $199.00 every 3 months is way way way to much for access to these sessions and I feel like I’ve become reliant on them to reach the level of relaxation I was achieving and will struggle to achieve similar results on my own. I’m glad I did it and didn’t mind the initial cost which was actually cheaper. I cannot believe the ridiculous price of the maintenance program. If it was $150 for the year I might consider it worth it but cannot afford almost $70 a month for recordings. Even if I could afford it I don’t think I’d be able to justify it. Sad for me. I won’t be renewing and I will now have to unsubscribe my email not to receive pesky reminders to renew.

I’m in week six of the Nerva programme for alleviating IBS. The hypnotherapy sessions are deeply relaxing, I particularly like the voice of the person conducting the sessions - it is gentle and reassuring. However the scripts used for the hypnotherapy are repeated often and I find this disappointing and irritating. After some sessions I’ve felt deeply relaxed and I’m hopeful that the suggestions contained the ‘good’ sessions will help to change my gastro-intestinal responses to somewhere near “normal” therefore enabling the IBS symptoms to fade away.

I’ve found this app very helpful in managing my gut symptoms. In particular, it does a great job of breaking the symptom-stress cycle which was definitely exacerbating my symptoms. It’s such a shame that the program is so expensive as I can’t afford to keep using it. I think it’s very unfair to keep charging $99 every three months, particularly for those who could benefit from long term use. The cost makes the program inaccessible to so many sufferers. I would happily rate the program 5 stars if it was more affordable.

The app was recommended to me by my naturopath and it’s not bad. It has helped me keep calmer in the mornings, the speakers voice is very relaxing. I also like how all sessions are about only 15 minutes and it’s mapped out for you to easily do everyday without having to sift through what meditation you want to do. The cons to this app are, the stories are repeated… I find this kind of annoying considering you pay so much for the app, not a lot of work has gone into the creation of it when the stories are the same every week. I also find the price steep and not worth it. Why do they make you pay for 3 months when the program is only 6 weeks? In the end the app is good but not great and there’s better options for the price out there, this seems like kind of a money grab.

Using this app taught me in a very concrete way the roll of stress in many aspects of my health, including IBS.
My hope is for this app to become available to more individuals who need this kind of support. I am lucky that I am able to purchase a three money subscription but not able to afford this kind of payment moving forward. Sadly when the three months are up I will be stopping my subscription.

I appreciate the mind gut theory and I am open to change, but I am just providing some feedback I feel could make this better. The sessions are a very repetitive, the start and end is the same it’s only the middle that changes, yes I understand the theory that repetition is what helps stick, but it’s the same recording each time and that doesn’t motivate you to want to listen every night the same again and again. It would be better to have some different words from time to time. I wouldn’t say it’s really hypnotherapy as it lacks the white noise in the background that really helps you go deep, I find I don’t go deep enough.
Thanks I’ll stick with it hopefully find some help.
