There’s one thing I can’t stand about this app. It makes me avoid it but it seems every time I come back there is the initial beginning (Sense) where the facilitator has you look, hear and feel 3 things in your environment, then 2, then 1. THEN she has you imagine the same thing all over again. It makes me crazy. It’s a great app. I just can’t stand this aspect.

Too repetitive
For the amount of money this app costs, I really wish there was more variety in the session. The first two weeks just get repeated over and over again.

Not worth the money
The sessions get very repetitive after the first few weeks. I especially hate the “5 things you can see, hear, smell” one that lasts forever and makes you do it like 5 times.

I don’t get why I need to pay $200 for a year for an app when the program doesn’t even last that long.

very repetitive
Somewhat helpful in the first few weeks or month, but becomes very mundane and repetitive if you are ADHD , it is boring !! The woman’s voice and style of talking is very good. Just wish they would change the lead in , to each hypnotherapy session!

After using it for a year, it’s helped my severe IBS and I’m in the habit of taking care of it through self-hypnotherapy or meditation. I love this program, but the subscription model isn’t appropriate. Even if it were a 1-time payment for the same price, I can get the same type of content, recordings, and services elsewhere for less.

Don't believe the hype...
Given the glowing reviews I downloaded and paid... honestly, the meditations simply repeat over and over. Wayyyy too much money for this app and I haven't experienced any change in my IBS. ..

Can only bill annually
I want to try this, but it’ll be months before I have a spare $250 available. Essentially I can’t use this for that long - if it had the option of charging monthly (even at a higher rate) I’d sign up straight away. Not accessible for people with…

Not great experience
The sessions are highly repetitive.Even after week 2 I found the sessions were repeating. This isn't good value for money app. I tried the low fodmap app and found it much more straightforward and easy to use.

Good, but glitchy
Good meditation tool, the key is to use it everyday; however sometimes the hypnotherapy session doesn’t play. In less than a month it’s already happened 3 times to me. It’s frustrating.

Needs to change from ‘days since you started’ to ‘sessions completed’
Very annoying that the app moves along each day, even when you haven’t completed previous session. Ie my app is showing ‘week 3’ but actually in terms of activities I’m only up to week 2. Incredibly annoying that you have to go such a long way round…

I live off of loperamide especially if I know I have to be anywhere where a restroom is not. I have IBS-D and it is aggravated if I know I’m going to have to drive, travel, go to an appointment, try to play golf, etc. I always have to know where the restroom is, I know where every public restroom is in my city. While the therapy is calming, I have tried to use the therapy/breathing before traveling etc and it does not work for me. I listened faithfully for the 6 weeks and I know it takes some of us longer but it has been 9 weeks since the therapy ended with no improvement. I guess I’ll keep trying but still have to take loperamide.

Good program
This has helped and I’ve seen some
Improvement but the price is way too much for a 6 week course with this little improvement. Should be a longer course with more hypnotherapy recordings or a cheaper price

I’ve been doing this programme when I get into bed at night and find it calming.

I don’t know if this app worked or my medication-caused GI symptoms resolved on their own, but I did notice an improvement. However, I found myself annoyed with the sessions after the first 3 because it’s just two relaxation exercises and maybe 4 different visualization exercises. I could not stay engaged with the repetition. The voice seems very AI. I would pay maybe 10% of this price for what you get.

I’m a bit disappointed after completing the programme that the app hasn’t helped me. My IBS is still pretty bad. I have completed the programme - I had really high hopes and felt sure it would work, but I haven’t seen any improvements…. The guarantee of ‘30 days or your money back’ doesn’t really make sense as the full programme is 6 weeks and it leads you on to continue by saying it’s quite normal you haven’t seen results yet. I was considering stopping at 30 days when I hadn’t seen the results, but the app encouraged me to give it longer.
Having said that, the app is well designed, there’s lots of informative content on there, it’s easy to use, it works well and it’s interesting.
If it had worked, it would be worth every penny.
Sadly it didn’t - I still have lots of pain, IBS is still negatively impacting my life and I’m poorer by 125 quid.

I honestly think the app and the initiative behind it is amazing ! But $99 dollars for only three months is insane. For essentially a few pre recorded / guided body scans / meditation (‘hypnotherapy’ ) the price is too much. I Wish it was more accessible for people who have long term ibs and need the program on an ongoing basis.

I would think for many people that the description of digestion in the gut has been pitched at a level that requires substantial previous knowledge of the gut anatomy. For some people terms like colon, the image of the gastrointestinal tract and the representation of the bacterial colony would not make sense. I’ve published a paper on developing a decision aid for use in hospitals and the accepted level of language is grade 8. Refer to NSW Clinical Excellence Commission “Producing Plain English Resources” for info. I hope this feedback helps.

I have completed about 20 sessions. I’m on my 4th week. Results are expected after 6 weeks. So anyone who tells you they had results within days is really an outlier. I have had no results yet. I am somewhat discouraged though, not due to the lack of results, but due to the content. While I have IBS or IBS like symptoms, there is way too much content about anxiety for me. I am not experiencing the issues they discuss in the hypnotherapy. Their words are not resonating with me. And there is a ton of reading and other activities to do besides the 16-17 min hypnotherapy session daily. It’s a lot of time. And when the content is not pulling you in, it’s hard to motivate to make all of that time.

I am three weeks into using Nerva at the recommendation of my dietitian. While I have seen benefits from the program, and will continue to use it, I do not think it is worth the price. Initial communications from the app promised a new session every day for six weeks, and the truth is that there are only fourteen sessions repeated three times. Fifteen minutes daily of diaphragmatic breathing and positive affirmations is proving really helpful and effective for my IBS, but you could find a free hypnotherapy session on Youtube and commit to repeating this every day instead of spending $150.
