I was desperate enough to try anything when I started this program, and I’m so happy to report that after completing the 6 weeks, I have experienced a marked improvement in my overall gut health/comfort. I’m also able to enjoy more flexibility in my diet, without suffering the uncomfortable “repercussions” I’ve become accustomed to over the years, in spite of religiously following every “gut based” eating program known to humanity.;) The reason I’m only giving it 4 stars, is because I do think some work could be done to improve the audio sessions. My profession has a large amount of overlap in hypnotherapy, meditation, CBT and other modalities touched on in this program, so perhaps my expectations are higher than most. However, I think some small tweaks to the language and delivery of the “hypnotherapy” (which is truly not hypnotherapy at all, but would fall closer to the category of guided meditation) could push this program over the top and make it even more impactful. That said, I experienced such benefit from dedicated, daily adherence to the readings, audio and breathing exercises, that I wouldn’t hesitate recommending this app/program to anyone struggling with IBS (or “IBS adjacent”) GI issues. I believe anyone suffering from any kind of stomach/GI discomfort could experience benefit from this program.

I understand repetition is part of hypnotherapy but it’s a very basic app with very basic extras for £50! Not sure what justifies the price.......

Whether coincidence or not, after the 6 weeks my symptoms were significantly improved and my mental health improved too. So I have to give credit in case it’s due! I would say that it’s a little tedious listening to the same thing 7 days in a row though.
The maintenance plan really needs some work though. The meditations aren’t even tweaked to reflect the 6 weeks you’ve already spent, they are exactly the same audio, which is a little irritating and can ruin the headspace. I probably won’t keep my subscription as I don’t think I’m getting anything from continuing to listen anymore.

I have IBS and reflux and have been using the Nerva app for the past month or so in conjunction with other major changes (diet, sleep, exercise, etc...). My symptoms have significantly improved (knock on wood!) during that time although I’m definitely not at a point where I can eat whatever I want. I think it’s a solid app and that it has played an important role in things getting better for me. If you use it, however, I would just be aware that you will probably have to make other changes in your life to really completely address IBS (or whatever your abdominal issue is). I would also strongly recommend doing the 5 minute breathing exercise that is an optional part of each session. Technically, the app itself is fine if a little glitchy.
I would love it if they would do some kind of follow-up maintenance app.

I just completed week 2 after starting the program 4 months ago (ik ik, shhh) and part of why it took so long is because after week one I went several weeks without a single attack! I noticed them starting back up though so I decided to keep going, and heading into week 3 I’m very confident in this program. I haven’t changed my diet at all, but I have removed some stress inducing things in my life which I believe is also helping. This program feels like it gives me more control over my symptoms and if it helped that much after a week, I can’t wait to see how much better I feel after 6!

This is my first week using Nerva Hypnosis. I started with doubts, having spent my whole life coping with IBS-D and searching for relief. I am an 84 year old retired trauma Informed mental health counselor. I am also a complex trauma survivor. During this first week I am noticing subtle changes in my conscious awareness of tension in my body and in my outlook on life. I am using breath many times during the day to relieve tension. I am also feeling a fragile sense of hope that I could feel better living with this body for the rest of my life❣️ I have been using NERVA hypnosis and breathing techniques for more than a year now. It has been a very challenging year for me at 85 and 1/2 years of age….many losses including my home and most of my belongings in Hurricane Helene. I use a hypnosis session every morning as my body awakens to tension and bowel activity. I seldom have explosive diarrhea anymore and for the first time in my life that I can remember, I experience regular formed bowel movements. I still have IBS symptoms during the day but am able to reassure myself that they are not a dangerous illness. Then I am able to cope with the symptoms with breathing and go on with my day. Eating is still a challenge as many foods in the USA exacerbate my symptoms. I have been using a plant based nutritional supplement from a company in California called Kate Farms which has helped me maintain my weight and soothes my digestive system. I am so grateful to have Nerva hypnosis sessions always available to help me cope with stress and anxiety in my everyday life. I can imagine using them also to ease my way through the dying process when that occurs for me. Thankyou NERVA❣️

I am three weeks into using Nerva at the recommendation of my dietitian. While I have seen benefits from the program, and will continue to use it, I do not think it is worth the price. Initial communications from the app promised a new session every day for six weeks, and the truth is that there are only fourteen sessions repeated three times. Fifteen minutes daily of diaphragmatic breathing and positive affirmations is proving really helpful and effective for my IBS, but you could find a free hypnotherapy session on Youtube and commit to repeating this every day instead of spending $150.

I want this concept to work so so badly and I truthfully do think it helped! I’ve been on quite the IBS journey and I don’t believe just cutting out foods is the only answer. I think it makes a ton of sense that we could trick the brain into adjusting since the brain to gut connection is so strong. My only problem with the app is that it’s literally listening to the same 5-10 recordings over and over, every day. As someone who practices guided meditation, I just would really appreciate if there were a few different options. I’ve tried hypnotherapy in different settings and am aware that I don’t get fully hypnotized so maybe I’m over aware of this and it could possibly not bother others but I just would love to get back into it if y’all could creat a little more variety in the hypnosis recordings. Like I said, still appreciate the app and what they’re trying to convey! Great concept and I’m glad people are combining science and traditional medicine to get new outcomes.

I’m on day 5. My first 4 sessions gave me an opportunity to look within myself and address my anxiety issues. I’m stoked to listen to my recording this evening and reflect on what tonight’s lesson teaches me. My gut struggles have been lessened significantly. Not that I don’t have to watch what I eat but I can now eat without fear. That’s after 4 sessions. Mentally I feel stronger, I have excellent natural supports at home as well, which has also been a great help. At this point I highly recommend that anyone who has gut issues to give the program a try. I know there are no guarantees, but when I saw that Monash also supports this program it gave me the confidence to give it a try. I had read some information regarding the gut brain connection; once I looked more into this I was able to appreciate the science behind this program as well. I feel to be successful you have to be honest with yourself and seriously look within and address your emotional shortcomings. Best wishes to all of you who have similar struggles.

I am trying to find out if the VA will help me pay for the app or if the app offers veteran discount but as of right now I don’t have an extra $150 unless I take it out of our bill and food budget. So anyways I will continue to use it until my trail is over and I hope to find a way to continue using it because I am a strong believer that private practice and the freemarket system can offer solutions that actually help until what the Veterans hospital is currently offering. So it will be back to give an update on this app in the near future.

While this app is really good at helping deal with anxiety, it unfortunately doesn’t stop gut bacteria from fermenting your food. Look into other reasons you may have digestive issues, such as SIBO, Celiac, and biliary insufficiency.

I am really sad to write this review because it looks like this app has helped a lot of people and I do not want to dissuade people for trying it for themselves, but I feel like I need to share my experience. Despite my experience I do think it is pretty low risk to give it a try and see if it works for you. I just want to share my experience so people do not think they are crazy if what happened to me happens to you!
I used this app for a little over a week. During that time, my symptoms got substantially worse and I ended up experiencing symptoms I didn’t even have before. The hypnosis talks a lot about all kinds of symptom that people have with IBS, some of which I do not. After a couple of days those symptoms started to develop. I actually didn’t even know what they were in some cases because I didn’t ever have them before (for example, reflux). In addition, the hypnosis encourages GI functions that are the exact opposite of what my issue is (IBS-D) and that worsened as well. I eat a low FODMAP, gluten-free, dairy-free diet and maintained my diet the whole time. I know I did not eat something by mistake because that would have caused 2-3 days worth of symptoms (not a week and a half) and would not have included the symptoms I wasn’t experiencing.
I stopped the app and within 2-3 days my system returned to “normal”. I am convinced that it was the app and not anything else in life.
I am giving this 2 stars instead of 1 because I can see where it is really effective for people where it works. I was suuuuuper relaxed during the hypnoses and at one point when it was over I realized I was drooling!! Maybe it works better for people with IBS-C and symptoms like reflux, wind, pain, etc. which it talks a lot about.
Honestly I think it is worth the $80 to just give it a try and see if it works for you given how many people have responded well. For me personally my worsened symptoms resolved within 2-3 days of trying it and I think it was worth the $80 just to give it a try. People who are complaining about the $80 probably aren’t as desperate for help and at their wits ends like some of us are. I would almost empty my bank account for a cure at this point.
I would probably give hypnosis a try again if I could have someone who could customize it for my specific symptoms and issues.

I signed up for this on the Rec from my doc after bad stomach post food poisoning. I didn’t have any of the symptoms in their initial survey- no bloating wind belly pain anxiety depression worry constipation or diarrhea. I guess I should be glad it’s a single symptom. I had paid so decided to try it anyway. The visualization exercises were nice enough the lady’s voice calming and several times I fell right to sleep. Others listened all the way through. After six weeks my body hasn’t changed and I answered the survey questions honestly again. No change. And yet they said congratulations you have improved 86%. If that’s the kind of “science” this is based on I’d call it fraud. Becuz NO APP, nothing whatsoever has changed. However if u have these symptoms it could in fact work. And the exercises might help u sleep at night. So there’s that.

The information this app gives you and the sessions it provides are very helpful for my IBS symptoms. I just wouldn’t say it’s worth the financial hardship of paying $150 for an app. If you can, use you own self discipline in listening to guided meditation, your own ability to research things like FODMAP diet, the gut brain connection, and the Vagus nerve… it will save you the immense amount of money they charge for these services. I have seen a large improvement, but I was essentially forced to do this as I am working class in America, I have no healthcare, and if I didn’t do something about my IBS symptoms I would surely end up homeless or attempt suicide. So, in that sense, I guess it’s worth $150. But if I would’ve known this app is just extracting immense cash from vulnerable individuals merely to provide something that YouTube can provide for free, I would have never bout Nerva.

Doesn’t feel good value after initial 6 weeks, even during the first 6 weeks the same sessions are repeated but there’s no way to rate them so you know which you get on with better - some I found a bit annoying.
Haven’t really done the breathing, there are only 3 variations and I’m not sure they felt right for me.

1. The hypnotherapy sessions are visualisation based. If you have aphantasia, like me (no images in your head) then it gets quite frustrating.
2. Telling sometime to ‘imagine a nice, relaxing sensation’ does not actually cause or create a sense of relaxation. A lot more needs to be done to actually trigger relaxation in the nervous system, especially if you have mental illness. Somatic exercises, such as progressive relaxation technique need to be included.
3. The tracking does not taking into account other things you may be doing outside the app to improve your symptoms. It’s also very vague and doesn’t include any way to track food etc. The app allows you to share the data with a healthcare professional, but would provide little benefit other than to show you have the condition you already know you have.

I think it’s a little unfair but I get supply and demand. It’s a niche product and little competitors right now so extort as much of the consumer willingness-to-pay in the price.
I didn’t feel any effects and I suffer from IBS(pain, runny stools, bad appetite) and have been for a long time. No short and definitely no long term benefits for me personally.
The best way to target IBS after years of self study is an elimination diet. I wish you all luck!

Unfortunately I didn’t get on well with this app and I think it has a lot to do with the choice of hypnotherapist and their voice. We are have different preferences and to only have a choice of one voice is limiting. I was recommended this app by my dietitian but would next time choose my own therapist.
I was also very disappointed that the app auto renewed at the end of the 3 month subscription without any notice that it’d be happening or giving me a chance to cancel. I’ve now cancelled the auto subscription so I’d like to make others aware of this in case they too find this app unhelpful.
